“Unwind the natural way with yoga classes for Every Body”

Karen Beaney’s yoga path started in the early 1990’s and she has been practicing regularly since 2009. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance and completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Kristof and Tiffany of ‘Living in the Self’ www.livingintheself.com in July of 2015.

She lives with her husband and two daughters in Omemee and has been a palliative care volunteer with Hospice Kawartha Lakes since 2013; which is a role that, in conjunction with some significant life events, led her on a journey of self-inquiry and ultimately in making a significant career change. In June 2016 she graduated with a Recreation Therapy diploma from Canadore College at which time she began the next phase of her life working as Volunteer / Friendly Visiting Coordinator at the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Haliburton. Karen has since taken a position with the Brain Injury Association of Peterborough Region as Client Service Coordinator / Supervisor in order to work directly with persons with Acquired Brain Injuries and Traumatic Brain Injuries.

Because of her interest in working with seniors and other adults with physical and cognitive impairments, Karen has also trained in chair yoga.

In September 2015 she received ‘Trauma Sensitive Yoga Training’ with Brendon Abram http://ptsdrecovery.ca/ptsd-recovery/ . And in September 2016 she completed advanced Trauma Sensitive Training. This style of yoga focuses on yoga as an adjunct to formal professional counselling for those suffering from trauma, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.)

Karen teaches Hatha and Laya yoga with a focus on encouraging people of all shapes, sizes and abilities to experience the wonderful world of yoga.

Classes being offered in the community; however, private classes are also available.
